Gary A. McCracken, MD

 

Dr. Gary A. McCracken founded North Scottsdale Dermatology in 2000, after completing his residency in dermatology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he also served as Chief Resident. His path to dermatology began in Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated from Creighton University in 1988 with an undergraduate degree in Biology, and four years later with an MD from Creighton's medical school. During his undergraduate years, Dr. McCracken played division 1 basketball for the Creighton BlueJays. Prior to entering his dermatology residency, Dr. McCracken completed a residency and attained board certification in internal medicine. This dual-board certification has been extremely valuable in his general dermatology practice, as the skin frequently serves as a window to systemic diseases. In addition, Dr. McCracken completed a year-long clinical research fellowship in dermatology at Emory University in Atlanta, widely considered one of the most prestigious dermatology departments in the nation.

Dr. McCracken's unique approach to patient care combines the experience gathered through 7 years of post-medical school training, as well as over a decade in busy clinical practice in Scottsdale. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and previously by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has presented numerous conferences and has lectured extensively on various dermatology topics. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and performs cutaneous surgery and laser procedures on a daily basis. Dr. McCracken resides in north Scottsdale with his wife Regina and two children.

 

 

Susan Iorio, MD

 

Dr. Susan Iorio, MD was born and raised in upstate New York. She completed her undergraduate studies at Lafayette College, Easton PA. She received her medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine and also received a Masters degree in public health at the Tulane University School of Public Health, specializing in tropical medicine. After medical school, she completed her internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and then returned to Tulane to complete her dermatology residency, where she was chief resident. As a board certified dermatologist, Dr. Iorio has received the Phoenix Top Doctor's award for the years of 2009, 2010 and 2011. She specializes in medical dermatology with emphasis on skin cancer screening and treatment. Dr. Iorio currently resides in Paradise Valley, AZ with her husband and two young children. During her time outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as entertaining and exercising.

 

 

Kim Nussbaum, MD

 

Kim Nussbaum, M.D. is a Board Certified Dermatologist with special interests in skin cancer prevention, detection, and treatment, including dermatologic surgery, and the diagnosis and treatment of skin rashes of all types, facial and body skin care, and cosmetic procedures such as Botox, laser therapy and fillers. Dr. Nussbaum has 8 years of experience in Dermatology, having recently practiced with a large Dermatology group in Wisconsin and with Loyola University in the Chicago area, where she treated patients of all ages. She completed her Dermatology residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, and graduated from the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, and a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Nussbaum looks forward to meeting you, and providing the best possible dermatologic care to you and your friends and family. She has had a home in Arizona for several years and would love to hear about your favorite places to go and things to do here in Arizona! Carlos Rodriguez, MD

 

Dr. Rodriguez is a native of Chicago, where he attended college and medical school at the University of Illinois, as well as a four-year residency in dermatology at Cook County Hospital. Dr. Rodriguez spent an additional year of post-residency training in a dermatopathology fellowship at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is dual-board certified by both the American Board of Dermatology as well as the American Board of Pathology. He enjoys caring for patients in clinic, as well as spending time at the microscope as the practice's dermatopathologist. By having an on-site dermatopathologist, North Scottsdale Dermatology patients and physicians benefit from very close correlation of clinical and microscopic findings on all skin biopsies. Dr. Rodriguez has the unique opportunity of seeing patients in person prior to receiving their biopsy samples for analysis. This translates into a more comprehensive, integrated approach to pathologic diagnoses.

In his time away from the office, Dr. Rodriguez practices and competes in the sport of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, participating regularly in various national and international tournaments. He also likes to spend time reading, exercising and cooking. Dr. Rodriguez is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.

 

 

Anthony Petelin, MD

 

Dr. Petelin was born in Phoenix and he began his training at the University of Arizona School of Medicine in Tucson. After graduating in the top of his class as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha academic society, Dr. Petelin then completed a three-year dermatology residency at the University of California at Irvine. Following the completion of his board certification in dermatology, Dr. Petelin further trained under one of the leaders in skin cancer and cosmetic laser surgery where he was exposed to the most cutting edge techniques in cancer removal, laser resurfacing, acne scarring and all aspects of cosmetic dermatology, including neurotoxins and fillers. Dr. Petelin is one of Arizona's few skin cancer surgeons who has completed an accredited fellowship in Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and specializes in all aspects of skin cancer removal and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Petelin is currently an active member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery where he participates in the advancement of the field. Dr. Petelin is the director of the Mohs Center for Skin Cancer Surgery here at North Scottsdale Dermatology, a state of the art facility designed with the patient in mind to allow for maximum comfort and excellent care during your visit. Melinia Honjo, MPAS, PA-C

 

Melinia is a board certified Physician Assistant with a specialty in dermatology. Mrs. Honjo has been in clinical practice for the last 9 years. She has been employed with North Scottsdale Dermatology for the last 7 years. Melinia specializes in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. She is an avid user of dermoscopy, using this specialized tool during each skin examination. Melinia is also a skilled cosmetic injector, specializing in the administration of Botox and Juvederm.

Mrs. Honjo received her bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas at Galveston. She completed her Graduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she was awarded a Master's of Physician Assistant Studies with an emphasis in dermatology. Melinia is currently attending A.T. Still University and will complete her Doctorate of Health Sciences in 2013. Mrs. Honjo is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, Phoenix Dermatologic Society and The American Academy of Physician Assistants.

 

 

Ashley Forsberg, LE, CMLT

 

Ashley Forsberg, Licensed Aesthetician, has been a licensed through the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology for Aesthetics and a Certificate Medical Laser Technician since 2005. In addition, Ashley graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor Degree in Education. Shortly after finishing her studies at ASU she discovered her passion for skincare. She has been with North Scottsdale Dermatology and the Skin Spa since 2005 and truly loves her job. Ashley specializes in Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion, Laser Hair Removal, Photofacials (IPL's) and Acne treatments. She is also an Educator for a well-known skincare company, which perfectly blends her skincare and educational backgrounds. Ashley continues to attend educational classes and seminars to further her education in aesthetics.

When she's not busy working, she loves to spend time with family and friends. Ashley also enjoys traveling. She is a native of Arizona, but has spent a great deal of time in the Midwest, where her family originates from.
